DBCLS BioHackathon

In February 2008 I attended a BioHackathon held at DBCLS in Tokyo to work on semantic data in open-source bioinformatics toolkits. My role at the time was to represent BioJava along with my erstwhile BioJava colleague Mark Schreiber, and the two of us made a lot of progress on the project whilst in Japan. Not to mention plenty of noodles and ordering mystery food from incomprehensible vending machines. The paper describing the hackathon finally got published in the last few weeks - you can read it here - and it makes a very interesting overview of the challenges and achievements of the event.
